Grooming of Pets

When we say bathing and brushing of pet, it sounds easy but when these processes are followed properly, they can groom the pet in a better way.

Make a habit of brushing before bathing the pet. As we human beings follow a proper regime of oiling, combing and then washing hair same goes for the pet except for oiling. Proper brushing removes the dead hair and thus washing of hair becomes easy. The processes of combing are moreover similar when compared to human beings. We detangle the hair first and then brush it properly.

How to brush in pets having thick coat?

Dog’s coat is one of the important things which decide which brush we should go for.

Way of brushing:

First detangle the head portion and then proceed towards the tail part. Don’t do brisk combing as it might hurt the pet.

Cleaning of Dog’s ears:

Ears are one of the sensory organs where there is a probability of getting fungus accumulated.

Sometimes, it happens that ears can suffer from insect bite as well. So periodic checking on dog’s ears is a necessity. Checking the ears once a week is advisable.

Once the ears are infected, it can lead to further complications also.

Cleaning Dog’s Nails:

This is another part of Grooming. It should be followed after every two to three weeks.

Some dogs do not allow clipping, so making a habit when they are small is a good practice.

There are some precautions to be taken before clipping the dog’s nails:

The nails of dog are very weak and they have something called quick in nails which is not seen in some dogs.

This quick contains blood vessel so if you clip by mistake its quick, the nail starts bleeding.

So clipping of dog’s nails should be done carefully. The dog’s nails can be either dark or light colored. So in the light colored nails the quick is visible in the form of pink color.

But it is difficult to find the quick in dark colored nails.
